Aluminium Chromating Chemicals
We offer a comprehensive range of aluminium surface treatment and chromating chemical solutions for improved corrosion protection and paint adhesion performance.
Aluminium Treatment (Chromating Chemicals)
Chromating, also known as chromate conversion coating, is an extremely thin chemical coating applied to aluminium, iron, and zinc surfaces to improve corrosion resistance and enhance surface performance.
This process forms a protective conversion layer that increases durability and improves adhesion for subsequent painting or coating applications. It is essential that the metal surface is thoroughly cleaned and free from oil, grease, and contaminants before chromate application to ensure proper coating formation.
There are four main types of chromating and aluminium surface treatment chemicals used for cleaning, surface preparation, and corrosion protection :
1. Aluminium Degreaser
Aluminium degreasers are used to remove thin oil films, grease, and surface contaminants from aluminium components, ensuring a clean surface for further chemical treatment.
2. Aluminum Etching
Aluminium etching is a controlled chemical treatment process that uses strong etchant solutions to remove unwanted surface layers. It helps in surface activation and controlled corrosion preparation prior to conversion coating.
3. Yellow Chromating
Yellow chromating is a hexavalent chromium-based conversion coating applied to aluminium surfaces to provide high corrosion resistance and excellent paint adhesion.
- Recommended drying temperature: not above 65°C
4. Green / Transparent Chromating
Green or transparent chromating is a trivalent chromium-based coating system that offers good corrosion protection and paint adhesion. The coating may appear matte to iridescent green depending on process conditions.
- Recommended drying temperature: not above 85°C
